Public Enemies Movie Review

Good concept for a movie, bad screenplay.  The idea of getting into the mind of John Dillinger is what initially peaked my interest in this flick.  As I've researched his life, it's clear what things led him down the road to the life he lead, based on statistics that we know today about children coming from dysfunctional and broken homes.

That said, none of this was discussed or uncovered by this movie.  There are some very graphic shoot-em-up scenes that are pretty gory along the way, emphasized heavily by the lack of musical scores behind them, which makes them even more raw.  The movie did very little in the way of character development and I felt myself looking down several times at my watch to see how much was left.

All-in-all, a great idea, but poor development.

Transformers Movie Review

So here it is, Transformers delivers on everything it's supposed to.  The action scenes are phenomenal and meet and even exceed expectations.  The story line picks up where Transformers 1 left off and continues in mostly the same vein as the first installment.

Coming from a dad, whom admittedly is a bit over zealous in the protection of the little eyes and ears of my kids, I think the movie finds itself conflicted.  My impression for the most part is that the screenwriter comes off as a hormone charged 16 year old boy.  The continual sexual innuendo as well as the language that comes from not only the actors, but the Transformers themselves is completely unnecessary.  I can deal with language, that's not the issue, the problem is that it is billed as a PG-13 movie that looks much more like it should have an R rating and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone much under 16.
